I’m Marlene Raymakers – designer and founder of my namesake label.
Translated, my last name means “maker of rays.” Even as a child, I was someone who laughed a lot, drew endlessly, and dreamed with curiosity about life and all its small wonders. That sense of joy and openness still accompanies me today and lies at the heart of what I do: creating fashion that lets you shine.
My designs are meant not only to be aesthetically appealing but to carry a feeling of lightness and joy.
From early on, I sensed that design, for me, is more than form or function – it is a language. A way to express joie de vivre and to touch people. When I design, a dialogue emerges between craftsmanship and emotion, between what is visible and what lies beneath. My creations are not just meant to be worn, but experienced – as an expression of confidence, curiosity, and ease.
I find my inspiration in nature – in its structures, colors, and silent connections. I’m especially fascinated by mycelium: invisible yet vital, intelligent and interconnected. It reminds me that everything is connected. This principle is something I aim to translate into my work – into fabrics that carry a sense of responsibility toward nature and into forms that tell stories.
Nature inspires and teaches me: every leaf, every texture, every growth speaks of uniqueness. Nothing is the same – and that’s exactly what I love. Just as no leaf is like another, no dress should be like another. I want to create fashion that adapts to you – not the other way around.
Nature inspires me not only through its aesthetics and forms but also through its efficiency: everything is change, everything is a cycle. I carry this principle into my work – as a synthesis of craftsmanship and nature – to create fashion that is mindful, breathing, and giving back.
I design for women who know who they are and what they want – yet remain curious to rediscover themselves. For those who find joy in expressing who they are – playful, elegant, bold, and free. My designs are modern and feminine, sometimes romantic, sometimes minimalist, but always honest – combining lightness and comfort with clean lines, subtle details, and a touch of extravagance. I bring together elegance and sustainable awareness to create garments that go beyond short-lived trends.
For me, fashion is about connection – connection with yourself, with others, and with nature. Every line, every fabric, every decision is part of a greater cycle. And when a piece of clothing comes to life that brings joy into the world, I know: I am doing exactly what I’m meant to do.
