The Art of Bio-Plastic

At the heart of my work was the use of bioplastic – an innovative material that I produced myself. This material bonded with the fabric and altered its structure, resulting in a fascinating surface design. The hard structure of the surface, broken by the wearer, symbolizes the breakthrough into new phases of life.

The production of bio-plastic is a science in itself, requiring a deep understanding of chemical processes and a creative approach to design and function. My approach goes beyond mere application; it’s a fusion of art and science.

Sustainability as a Central Theme

A particular concern of mine was the use of sustainable materials. In addition to bioplastic, upcycled materials were also used – the base material consisted of old curtains. This approach underlines my commitment to resource conservation and shows how fashion and environmental consciousness can go hand in hand.

The Role of T69 Gallery

T69 Gallery, under the direction of Andreas Ender, has established itself as a platform that provides a stage for young talents. It is a place of encounter and exchange where artists can present and develop their ideas. This support is invaluable for artists at the beginning of their careers.

Exhibition Details and Vernissage

The exhibition was open from April 8 to May 20, 2023, Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM at Gallery T.69, Franz-Michael-Felder-Straße in Hohenems, Vorarlberg.

The vernissage on April 8 offered a wonderful opportunity to present my work to a wider audience and receive valuable feedback. The positive responses from visitors were inspiring and motivating.

Concluding Thoughts

My Young Art Award is more than just a personal success; it represents the growing importance of sustainable practices in the art and fashion world. It also shows that fashion can be viewed as art.

Viewing fashion as art opens up new perspectives on creativity and expression. Like a painting or sculpture, a piece of clothing can evoke emotions, tell stories, and reflect societal themes. The use of innovative materials like bioplastic in fashion pushes the boundaries of what’s possible and challenges us to rethink the relationship between body, clothing, and environment. In this sense, fashion becomes a living, wearable work of art that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also conveys deeper meanings and messages.
